Imperial Highway.
Forcas ponders the meaning of the slaughter.
Was it just humans indulging in their wanton greed and bloodlust?
Even he is unsure of this, though he has spend decades observing humans.
Like other Nobles in the realm, he himself has a collection of human thralls.
However, out of his fascination with them, his human thralls enjoy a high degree of autonomy within his territory.
In fact, and as scandalous as this may seem to other Nobles, his human thralls are educated with the level of knowledge according to their age and occupation.
And not only humans. Even other Fey that was captured in battles and put to thralldom, he was kind and provided them with all the amenities required and even educated them.
This resulted in a territory of mixed heritage and culture.
His thralls are well aware of their better lot as compared to their brethren in other Noble's territory. As such, while there is the occasional resentment of their thralldom, they are quite grateful towards Forcas.
They are quite aware of their Noble Lord's eccentricity. However, after decades of watching him being nothing but kind to them, they have concluded that while thralldom is loathsome, at least his territory is better than others.
As he ponders this, he was distracted when he heard a rustling at the side of the road.
Pulling his horse over, he headed to the source of the sound.
Well aware that his eccentricity have earned him scorn and even enmity in some others, he dismounted and drew his sabre.
Slowly approaching the bushes, he was surprised to find nothing but heaps of gold, jewelries and weapons.
What is this?
